On 4th May 2025, a distinguished delegation of Japanese academics and researchers visited the Department of Meteorology at the University of Dhaka as part of an ongoing collaboration in the field of meteorology and disaster risk reduction. The delegation included Prof. Taiichi Hayashi from Kyoto University, Prof. Yuchi Ono and Mr. Sakamoto from Tohoku University, and Mr. Yusuke Yamane from Shizuoka University.
During their visit, the delegation engaged in productive discussions, exploring opportunities for joint research, student exchange programs, and collaborative initiatives aimed at enhancing early warning systems and climate resilience in Bangladesh. The visit underscored the longstanding academic ties between Japanese institutions and the University of Dhaka, and the shared commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and practical solutions to address climate-related challenges.
As part of their visit, the delegation also paid a courtesy call on the Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences. The Dean warmly welcomed the guests and expressed appreciation for the continued support and academic partnership from Japanese universities.
This visit marks another milestone in strengthening international academic cooperation and reflects the Department’s commitment to fostering global partnerships for sustainable development and scientific excellence.
