On 12 May 2025, Mr. Du Zhanyuan, President of the China International Communications Group (CICG), visited the Centre for China Studies(CCS).Dr. Liu Zongyi, Director of the Center for South Asian Studies and Chinese Director of the CCS and Dr.Shamsad Mortuza, Director of Foreign Affairs Office at the University of Dhaka and Bangladeshi Director of the CCS,introduced the establishment and development of the Centre to President Du and other guests, and invited other units under the China International Communications Group to become “Friends of the Centre for China Studies”.
President Du stated that the friendship between China and Bangladesh needs to be further sustained, and mutual exchanges and mutual support are of great significance to both countries. The establishment of the Centre for China Studies reflects the willingness of both sides to enhance exchanges and communication. The China International Communications Group will strongly support the work and research of the Centre. Subsequently, professors from the University of Dhaka held exchanges with the Chinese side on topics such as how to enhance cooperation and research.
Prof.Niaz Ahmed Khan, Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka met with President Du at the CCS office. Prof. Niaz said that the friendship between China and Bangladesh can be traced back more than 2,500 years ago, and nowadays the relations between the two countries are not only political but also reflected at various levels and fields, President Du's visit has created opportunities for the cooperation between the two sides.
Mr.Hu Kaimin, President of the Foreign Languages Press, Mr.Zhang Jinting, Director of the CICG Center for Cultural Exchange, Ms. Liu Shuangyan, Director General of the International Cooperation Department of CICG,Mr.Li Shaopeng, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, Ms.Yang Hui,Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Dhaka, and Mr. Zhu Shicheng, Executive Deputy Director of the Centre for China Studies, among others, attended the meeting.
