Dr. Md Rafiqul Islam is a Professor in the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, a Master’s degree, and an MPhil in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Dhaka. Additionally, he earned an MA in Environmental Security and Peace from the University for Peace in Costa Rica and completed his Ph.D. at Flinders University in Australia. Dr. Islam’s research interests are broad and interdisciplinary, focusing on peace, conflict, democracy, development, and the intersection of refugee and migration issues with climate change. He has published over 50 articles in international journals and has authored books with renowned publishers such as Routledge and Springer. His work addresses critical global challenges and contributes to ongoing debates in the fields of security and environmental studies. In his academic role, Dr. Islam teaches courses on international human rights and humanitarian law, as well as international politics. His Ph.D. thesis was awarded the John Lewis Silver Medal in South Australia, underscoring its notable impact on the field.
