The Faculty of Arts is one of the three founding faculties established when the university of Dhaka began its journey in 1921. Since its inception, this faculty has played a significant role in shaping the academic landscape of the university, evolving over time to become one of its largest and most diverse faculties. Since its establishment in 1921 alongside the university of Dhaka, the Faculty of Arts has grown from eight initial departments to a diverse body of seventeen departments. This broad academic spectrum, covering disciplines from languages, philosophy, and history to music, theater and information science and library management fosters rich opportunities for interdisciplinary research.
My pride for my distinguished faculty members, who possess extensive knowledge and expertise in their respective fields. Our faculty comprises highly qualified individuals trained at prestigious universities worldwide. They specialize in a diverse array of research areas and have made substantial contributions to their disciplines. As the faculty continues to expand and faces various challenges, I acknowledge the critical need for enhanced research funding and greater access to higher education, particularly for funded Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and Master of Arts (M.A.) programs. Collaboration among government, industry, and academia is essential for optimizing resource utilization and developing human capital effectively.
