Jatir Janak Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is the architect of independent Bangladesh. The Jatir Janak Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall was named after this great leader. The Jatir Janak Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall was established in 1988. This Hall is one of the halls of University of Dhaka which are equipped with modern amenities. There are high-speed wireless internet connections (Wi-Fi), a rich library, a well-equipped reading room, a masjid, a canteen, and a dining room for the students. Surrounded by greeneries the whole area of hall is under surveillance of CCTV cameras for 24 hours of the day. There are opportunities of playing various indoor games e.g. carom, table tennis, chess, badminton etc. for the students. Every year, the students of different faculties residing in the hall having highest results in their honor’s final exams are awarded with the Bangabandhu Merit Award to inspire them towards merit-based competion. Discussion programs, cultural programs, debate-competition, etc. are arranged to commemorate the national days. The birth anniversary of Jatir Janak Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 17th March and National Mourning day on 15th August are observed with appropriate solemnity. The elected Hall Union plans and performs various activities for student welfare.
