Ambassador of France in Bangladesh Mrs. Marie Masdupuy called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal today March 31, 2024 at the latter’s office of the university. DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Sitesh Chandra Bachar, Director of Alliance FrancaiseMr. Francois Grosjean, Visiting Professor of DU Oceanography Department Dr. Tonia Astrid Capuanowere present on this occasion.

During the meeting they discussed matters of various mutual and bi-lateral issues including the possibilities of strengthening ongoing collaborative academic and cultural programs amongDhaka University and universities in France. They emphasized on pursuing higher education of moreDU students and young faculties in France. They stressed the need for expansion of French language program at Dhaka University and enhancement of collaboration at DU Oceanography Department.

FranceAmbassador Mrs. Marie Masdupuyexpressed her willingness to provide more scholarships for DU students and young faculties of different academic fields includingscience,social science,environmental science, medical science andengineering. Besides, scholarships will also be given to French Language learning students of Dhaka University. She also apprised DU VC of providing adequate support and cooperation to Frenchlanguage programat DU Institute of Modern Languages.We also want to develop cooperation and collaboration with young artists of DU. In this regard a workshop will be organized in October nextat DU Fine Art Faculty where French artists are expected to attend, Ambassador added.

DU VCProf. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal said, we like to enhance our collaboration and strengthen our friendship with France through joint educational and cultural exchange programs. He sought more support and cooperation from France to fostereducation and research activities ofDhaka University. He thanked France Ambassador for her visit to and keen interest in strengthening collaboration with DU

After the meeting the Ambassador visited the ‘Animation Lab’which is established at DU Fine Arts Faculty under a project of Alliance Francaise Dhaka. Dean of Fine Art Faculty Prof. NisarHossain was present there.
