The Director’s Award is a unique initiative of the institute. Generally, eligible students of other departments of the University of Dhaka receive the prestigious Dean’s Award under their respective faculties. Our students, despite achieving good results, cannot be nominated for the Dean’s Award like the rest because the institutes are not under the supervision of any faculty; which is demoralizing.
Therefore, since 2016, the Institute of Health Economics has been awarding Direct’s Award for academic excellence in BSS and MSS in Health Economics. One student in each of the mentioned degrees is nominated for the award. The criterion for nomination is to have a CGPA of 3.80 or higher (on the scale of 4.00) in the relevant degree. If there is more than one student with a CGPA of 3.80 or more, the student with the maximum CGPA will be nominated.
There are two objectives of this award: first, to recognize the outstanding results and second, to motivate the successors to achieve excellent grades. We believe that a positive competitive environment encourages students to achieve academic excellence.
