The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSEDU) at the University of Dhaka recently held an orientation ceremony for its 30th batch of students, marking the beginning of an exciting academic journey for the new cohort. The event took place at the Science Complex Building, welcoming some of the brightest minds in the country to the prestigious program.
In a heartwarming gesture, the CSEDU Alumni Association, in collaboration with Bangladesh Finance and the Rotary Club of Dhaka Mega City, distributed 66 backpacks and 10 laptops to deserving yet underprivileged students. Third-year student Mr. Ferdous Mondol was awarded one of the laptops, while the remaining nine have been distributed to financially disadvantaged first year first semester students based on need.
This esteemed event highlighted the importance of equipping future technology leaders with the necessary tools to succeed. By providing them with access to the latest technology, the program aimed to empower students to contribute to the development of the nation's IT infrastructure—an opportunity many were previously deprived of.
The ceremony was hosted by second-year students, Hasanat Ashrafy and Farhan Bin Rabbani and featured an array of distinguished guests. Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Upama Kabir, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, graced the event with her presence. Special Guests included Md. Kyser Hamid, Managing Director and CEO of Bangladesh Finance; Mojahedul Hoque Abul Hasanat, Chairman and Chief Technology Officer of Dynamic Solution Innovators Ltd. (DSi); and Kazi Mohammad Mahabubul Hoque, Senior Analyst at RAJUK and President of the CSEDU Alumni Association.

Faisal Hossain, Chief Technology Officer of Bangladesh Finance and General Secretary of the CSEDU Alumni Association, also extended a warm welcome to the incoming students. In his speech, Hossain encouraged the new batch to take full advantage of their education at Bangladesh's premier institution and strive to be leaders in both their studies and future careers.
Throughout the ceremony, the special guests offered valuable insights and encouragement to the students, sharing the vast opportunities available to them in the field of technology. Prof. Dr. Upama Kabir, in her closing speech, reminded the students of the importance of not only excelling academically but also becoming well-rounded individuals who contribute positively to society.
The Chairman of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque, also addressed the gathering, commending the students for their remarkable achievement of gaining admission to the University of Dhaka. He provided a comprehensive overview of both the IT industry and academic opportunities, urging the students to make the most of their time at the university.
