The orientation of the 30th batch of the Computer Science and Engineering Department at the University of Dhaka took place on the 6th floor of the Science Complex Building, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the incoming students. This event, organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, celebrated the arrival of the newest students, who are among some of the brightest minds in the country.
The program was hosted by two second-year students, Hasanat Ashrafy and Farhan Bin Rabbani. It featured the presence of several distinguished guests, including the Honorable Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Prof. Dr. Upama Kabir, who served as the Chief Guest. Special Guests included Mojahedul Hoque Abul Hasanat, Chairman and Chief Technology Officer of Dynamic Solution Innovators Ltd. (DSI); Md. Kyser Hamid, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh Finance; and Kazi Mohammed Mahbubul Haque, Senior Analyst of Rajuk and President of the Computer Science and Engineering Department Alumni Association.
Additionally, the Chairman of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque, along with other respected faculty members, graced the event.
The program began with a welcome speech by the Student Advisor, Dr. Md. Mosaddek Khan. The special guests shared valuable insights with the newly admitted students, offering advice on the opportunities that await them in the future. Prof. Dr. Upama Kabir emphasized the importance of becoming a better human being in addition to excelling as a student. Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque commended the students for their achievement in gaining admission to the University of Dhaka and wished them success in their academic journey.
The event provided a platform for the freshers to express their aspirations and feelings, while the speeches inspired and guided them on how to navigate both their academic journey and life beyond.
The newcomers were also presented with welcome gifts organized by the Alumni Association and Bangladesh Finance Ltd., which included the distribution of 66 bags and 10 laptops.
One laptop was awarded to Ferdous Mondol, a third-year student, while the remaining laptops will be distributed to 9 freshmen based on financial need.
In closing, the second-year students warmly welcomed the freshers, making the event a memorable and joyful experience for everyone.
It was an overwhelming success, leaving the new students with excitement and optimism for the journey ahead. We wish them a bright future as they embark on this new chapter of their lives at the University of Dhaka.
