In response to the recent collective stress and trauma experienced by students, on 23 September, 2024, the CSEDU Students’ Club and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Dhaka organized a seminar on Trauma Management. Led by Dr. Md. Salim Hossain and Sanchary Prativa from the Department of Psychology, the seminar aimed to provide guidance on emotional well-being. The event, held in the department's auditorium, attracted both students and faculty.
The event commenced with an introduction from Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque, Chairman of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. He emphasized on the importance of addressing mental health in the aftermath of the recent stressful period. The atmosphere was both welcoming and reflective, encouraging to share their experiences and feeling.
Dr. Hossain opened the session by emphasizing the vital role of mental health in all aspects of life, using real-life examples to illustrate the impact of trauma. Sanchary Prativa followed with practical coping techniques tailored for students, introducing grounding exercises to help manage overwhelming emotions. There was an interactive segment too, which included meditation and physical exercises, highlighting the connection between mental and physical well-being. A Q&A session allowed students to voice their concerns, with personalized support offered for those seeking further assistance.
