Workshop on Self-Assessment Report and Program Improvement Plan
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at University of Dhaka hosted a comprehensive workshop on the Program Improvement Plan on 12 February 2024, Monday, at 10:00 AM in its auditorium. This event was organized to solicit and incorporate feedback on the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) of the department, a document that not only underpins the academic and operational excellence of the institution but also identifies areas for improvement and inadequacies to be addressed. Esteemed academics from renowned institutions were in attendance, including Dr. Md. Mostofa Akbar from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dr. Aloke Kumar Saha from the University of Asia Pacific, and Dr. Abu Raihan Mostofa Kamal from the Islamic University of Technology (IUT), who brought invaluable insights and perspectives to the discussions.
The workshop commenced at 10:00 AM with a warm welcome speech delivered by Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque, the convener of the departmental Program Self-Assessment Committee (PSAC). The event was conducted by PSAC member Prof. Dr. Upama Kabir, ensuring a smooth and productive flow of activities. A notable feature of the event was the in-depth presentation of the Self-Assessment Report (SAR), co-presented by Dr. Md. Mosaddek Khan, a member of the PSAC, and Mr. Md Fahim Arefin, a lecturer of the department. They shared the findings and analyses through a presentation, offering a thorough examination of the department's performance and opportunities for advancement. Following a tea break at 11:00 AM, the workshop resumed with an engaging session that involved students from various academic levels within the department, including Bachelor's, Master's, M.Phil, and Ph.D. programs. The visiting academics, alongside respected faculty members, alumni, and officers of the department, engaged in a thorough discourse on various facets of the SAR, exploring avenues for enhancement under the Program Improvement Plan.
The afternoon sessions, following a prayer and lunch break at 2:00 PM, were dedicated to more focused discussions between the visiting academics and the department's faculty members. These deliberations aimed at refining the Program Improvement Plan, with the visiting academics offering directional opinions and constructive feedback. The workshop concluded at 4:00 PM with a closing speech by the department's chairman, Prof. Dr. Saifuddin Md. Tareeq, who reflected on the day's achievements and the path forward. Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque, in his capacity as the convenor of PSAC, extended heartfelt gratitude to all participants, marking the official closure of the workshop. The event underscored the department's commitment to academic excellence and continuous improvement, setting a precedent for future initiatives.
