The Management Debating Forum, University of Dhaka, recently held the event “Road to Debate Development 2.0,” designed to enhance debate skills and foster critical thinking among students. This initiative reflects the Forum’s commitment to cultivating a culture of intellectual engagement and discourse within the University of Dhaka.
The debate addressed the thought-provoking motion: "This House believes that apathy towards work, not the lack of employment opportunities, is the primary cause of unemployment." Participants rigorously explored various perspectives on this topic, analyzing socio-economic and psychological factors that influence employment dynamics.
The event was graced by Professor Dr. Md. Thoufiqul Islam (Chairman of the Department of Management, Faculty of Business Studies, University of Dhaka) as the Chief Guest.
His inspiring remarks emphasized the significance of debate as a tool for developing analytical and persuasive skills. Mr. Razib Hossain (Lecturer in the Department of Management and Moderator of the Management Debating Forum) presided over the program, showcasing his ongoing support for the Forum’s initiatives and student development.
The event featured prominent debaters and adjudicators who provided valuable guidance to participants. Distinguished speakers and judges included Dr. Samiul Awal Shakkhar, Co-Chairman of the National Debate Federation Bangladesh (NDF-BD), Adnan Mustari (General Secretary of the Dhaka University Debating Society), and Tahmid Al Muddasir Chowdhury (Vice President of the Dhaka University Debating Society). Sohag Nafiz (Debate Trainer of NDF-BD) also offered insightful critique and encouragement to the participants.
The program saw active participation from esteemed faculty members, including Mr. Masnoon Salehin (Assistant Professor) and Mr. Md. Masud Rana (Lecturer), Department of Management, who expressed their encouragement for aspiring debaters. Maisha Maliat (President of the Management Debating Forum and Joint Secretary of the FBS Debating Club), along with Maksudul Alam Fahim (General Secretary of the Management Debating Forum and Joint Secretary of FBS Debating Club), were also present, demonstrating their commitment to promoting debate activities and enhancing the Forum’s outreach within the university.
