মহান শহিদ দিবস ও আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস ২০২৫ উপলক্ষ্যে প্রতি বছরের মতো এ বছরও ভাষাবিজ্ঞান বিভাগের উদ্যোগে “ভাষা পদযাত্রা“ শীর্ষক আয়োজনের মধ্য দিয়ে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ভাষার মাস ‘ফেব্রুয়ারি‘- কে বরণ করে নিয়েছে । ১ ফেব্রুয়ারি ২০২৫ শনিবার সকাল ৯ টায় ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বিভিন্ন বিভাগের শিক্ষকসহ ভাষাবিজ্ঞান বিভাগের শিক্ষক-শিক্ষার্থী “অপরাজেয় বাংলা“র পাদদেশে মিলিত হন এবং ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মাননীয় উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক ড. নিয়াজ আহমদ খান বেলুন ও ফেস্টুন উড়িয়ে এ পদযাত্রার উদ্বোধন ঘোষণা করেন । অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন কলা অনুষদের মাননীয় ডিন, অধ্যাপক ড. মোহাম্মদ ছিদ্দিকুর রহমান খান । এরপর সকলে সারিবদ্ধভাবে পায়ে হেঁটে শহিদ মিনারে পৌঁছে ভাষা শহিদের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধাজ্ঞাপনের মধ্য দিয়ে পদযাত্রা সমাপ্ত হয়। অনুষ্ঠানের সভাপতিত্ব করেন বিভাগীয় চেয়ারপার্সন ড. মনিরা বেগম এবং অনুষ্ঠানের আহ্বায়ক ছিলেন ড. মাশরুর ইমতিয়াজ । ২০১৪ সাল থেকে নিয়মিতভাবে এই ভাষা পদযাত্রা আয়োজিত হয়ে আসছে । ভাষাবিজ্ঞান বিভাগ আশা করে যে কেবল ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় নয়, দেশের সকল বিদ্যাপীঠেই এই ধরনের ভাষা পদযাত্রা আয়োজিত হবে এবং দেশব্যাপী বাংলা ভাষা বিষয়ক সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধিতে ভূমিকা রাখবে ।

On the occasion of the Language Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day 2025, the Department of Linguistics welcomed the month of language, February, at the University of Dhaka with an event titled "Language Rally." On Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 9:00 AM, faculty members from various departments, along with students and teachers of the Department of Linguistics, gathered at the base of the iconic "Aporajeyo Bangla." The Honourable Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan, inaugurated the rally by releasing balloons and festoons. Also present at the event was the Honourable Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Dr. Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan. Following the inauguration, all participants walked in a solemn procession to the Shaheed Minar, where they paid tribute to the martyrs of the Language Movement. The event was presided over by the Chairperson of the Department of Linguistics, Dr. Monira Begam and Dr. Mashrur Imtiaz was the convener of the event. Since its inception in 2014, this Language Rally has been organized regularly. The Department of Linguistics hopes that such rallies will be held not only at the University of Dhaka, but also at all of the country's educational institutions, contributing to raise national awareness for Bangla.
