A 2-day long international conference on ‘Physics in Medicine’ begins today, 6 February, 2020 at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University. DU VC Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman presided over the inaugural function of the conference while Minister of Science and Technology Architect Yeafesh Osman attended it as chief guest.
The inaugural function was also addressed, among others, by Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Prof. Md. Sanowar Hussain, Director of National Cancer Institute Prof. Qazi Mushtak Hussain, Prof. Salahuddin Ahmad and Prof. M. Aminul Islam. Bangladesh Medical Physics Association (BMPA), Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission and DU Biomedical Physics and Technology Department have jointly organized the conference.
Minister of Science and Technology Architect Yeafesh Osman said, medical physicists need more research, education and training for development of health sector. The present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken adequate measures for enhancement of health services in the country, he pointed out.
DU VC Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman stressed the need for using latest technologies, methods and facilities in health sectors for better treatment of the patients. He urged the medical physicists to make new technological innovations for further advancement of this sector. We are passing through the 4th Industrial Revolution and medical physicists must play a vital role to cope with the challenges of this revolution, DU VC hoped.
A large number of medical physicists, teachers and researchers from home and abroad are participating at this conference.
