Satellite Ground Station has been inaugurated at the Department of Meteorology of Dhaka University (DU). Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated it as the chief guest at a function held today February 11, 2021 on the roof of Mokarram Hussain Khundker Biggan Bhaban of the university. 

Chairperson of the Department of Meteorology of DU Prof. Dr. Towhida Rashid presided over the inaugural function while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal and Treasurer Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed were present on this occasion as special guests.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman said, Satellite Ground Station is a remarkable addition to the celebration of the Centenary of Dhaka University. Teachers, researchers and students will be able to collect data and information regarding weather, environment, climate and atmosphere by proper utilizing this Satellite Ground Station, he added. Academic and research activities on atmosphere, climate, meteorology, fisheries, agriculture and oceanography will be enhanced at the university through this station, he mentioned.
