A total of seventy five meritorious students from different departments under the Faculty of Biological Sciences of Dhaka University (DU) have been given ‘Dean’s Award’ for their excellent academic results in BS (Hons.) examinations of 2021 and 2022. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan distributed the awards among the students at a function held today February 25, 2025 at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.
Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences Prof. Dr. Md. Enamul Haque presided over the function while DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr. Sayema Haque Bidisha and Treasurer Prof. Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury addressed it as special guests. Chairpersons of various departments declared the names of awardees. Chairman of the Department of Botany Prof. Dr. Mihir Lal Saha gave vote of thanks.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan said, the meritorious students are social capital of the country. We have to utilize them to make Bangladesh a developed country. Students have to play effective role to ensure social security in the country, he added. He also urged the students to work for strengthening relationship between Dhaka University and alumni. The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the meritorious students for achieving Deans Award.
It may be mentioned that 10 students from Soil, Water and Environment Department, 10 from Botany Department, 10 from Zoology Department, 10 from Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department, 5 from Psychology Department, 10 from Microbiology Department, 10 from Fisheries Department and 10 from Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Department have received Deans Award.
