A webinar marking the International Women’s Day-2022 was held yesterday March 8, 2022 under auspices of International Science Programme (ISP), Sweden supported Research Group BAN:04 at Chemistry Department of Dhaka University (DU). DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal inaugurated it as chief guest while First Secretary, Embassy of Sweden to Bangladesh MS Anna Svantesson and ISP Programme Director Dr. Peter Sundin were present as special guests. The webinar was presided over by former chairperson of DU Chemistry Department Prof. Dr. Nilufar Nahar and conducted by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shoeb, Group Leader, BAN:04 Research Group. Former chairperson of DU Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department Prof. Dr. Haseena Khan gave the motivational speech. More than 100 faculty members, students and researchers from Dhaka University and other universities of Bangladesh and foreign universities participated at the webinar.
Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal said, active participation of women in workplace and education is important to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In Bangladesh 49 percent population are women and 51 percent man, he pointed out.
Prof. Shoeb informed that BAN:04 Research group organizes seminar, webinar, workshop and training events regularly for teachers, students and researchers of DU and other organizations to motivate them in achieving Quality Higher Education and research.
