A new Trust Fund titled ‘Professor Dr. Habiba Khatun Trust Fund’ has been set up at the Department of Islamic History & Culture of Dhaka University. Dr. Nahid Jamal Rianon, daughter of Prof. Habiba Khatun and Assistant Prof. of the University of Texas Medical School, USA handed over a cheque for Taka 5 (five) lac to DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr. Shahid Akhtar Hossain today, December 23, 2015 at the Vice-Chancellor’s Office to set up this trust fund.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique, Chairman of the Department of Islamic History & Culture Prof. Md. Mahfuzul Islam, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan, Assistant Prof. Mahmudur Rahman, Acting Registrar Syed Rezaur Rahman and sister of the donor Dr. Rafia S. Rasu were present on this occasion.
Out of the income of this donation, every year three meritorious students who will secure the highest CGPA in Honors final examination from A, B and C section respectively of the Department of Islamic History & Culture of Dhaka University will be awarded ‘Professor Dr. Habiba Khatun Trust Fund’ scholarship.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique thanked the donor and her family members for the donation to establish ‘Professor Dr. Habiba Khatun Trust Fund’ for the welfare of the Dhaka University students.
It may be mentioned that Dr. Habiba Khatun is a retired Professor of the Department of Islamic History & Culture of Dhaka University.
