A five-member delegation led by Devang V. Khakhar, Director of the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique today, January 12, 2016 at the latter’s office of the university. Other team members were Prof. Dr. Rajiv Dusane, Prof. Dr. Narayan Rangaraj, Goutam Saha and Pooja Midha.
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of DU Prof. Dr. Rafiqul Islam and Professor of the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering Dr. Zahid Hasan Mahmood were present on this occasion.
During the meeting they discussed the possibilities of strengthening on-going joint collaborative academic and research programs conducted by the University of Dhaka and the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. They stressed the need for exchange of more teachers, students and researchers between the two institutions.
The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique apprised the team members of brief history of Dhaka University as well as Bangladesh. He said, Dhaka University has been playing pioneering role to promote socio-economic development in the country since its inception. He also recalled the outstanding contributions of DU teachers and students to all the democratic movements in the country including Liberation War and Language movement.
