Former High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Veena Sikri called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique today February 07, 2016 at the latter’s office of the university. Chairperson of the Centre for West Asian Studies of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi Prof. Aswini K. Mohapatra and Director of Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, Dhaka Jayashree Kundu were present on this occasion.

During the meeting they discussed various bi-lateral issues. They stressed the need for strengthening ongoing collaborative academic and research programs jointly conducted by the University of Dhaka and higher educational institutions in India. Ms. Veena Sikri highly praised socio-economic development of Bangladesh. Bangladeshi People are very humble and innocent, he opined. DU VC Prof. Arefin Siddique said, Bangladesh and India have excellent friendly relations. We are coming everyday closer to each other, the VC pointed out.
