A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Dhaka University (DU) and Bangladesh Freedom Fighters Welfare Trust (BFFWT) was signed today February 9, 2016 at the VC’s lounge of the university. Treasurer of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin and Managing Director of BFFWT Dr. Md. Nurannabi Mridha signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institution.  

Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique and Director (Welfare) of BFFWT Md. Abu Taleb Molla were present, among others, on this occasion.

According to the MoU, Dhaka University and Bangladesh Freedom Fighters Welfare Trust will jointly conduct research activities on the Liberation War of Bangladesh. Every year two DU PhD researchers who will conduct research on Liberation War will be given scholarships from Bangladesh Freedom Fighters Welfare Trust.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique thanked the Trust authorities for signing the MoU. He said, the Liberation War of Bangladesh is one of the most glorious chapters in human history. 3 million people were brutally killed and 4 lac women were tortured by the barbaric Pakistan Army during our Liberation War in 1971, he pointed out. The VC urged the researchers to unveil the unrevealed history of Liberation War through research. This MoU will play an effective role in this regard, he hoped.
