A two-member delegation led by Prof. Igors Tipans, Deputy Rector of  Riga Technical University of Latvia called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique today, April 20, 2016 at the latter’s office of the university. Other member of the delegation was Prof. Ugis Briedis.

Director of the Institute of Information Technology (IIT) of DU Dr. Kazi Muheymin-Us-Sakib and Assistant Professor Sheikh Muhammad Sarwar were present on the occasion.

During the meeting they discussed various issues including the possibilities of under-taking joint collaborative academic and research programs by the University of Dhaka and Riga Technical University of Latvia. They also agreed to sign a MoU in this regard soon. DU VC sought cooperation from Latvian delegation to appoint some visiting Professors for newly established Mechatronics Engineering Department of DU. The Latvian team assured the VC of providing all possible cooperation in this regard.
