Confucius Institute has been established at the University of Dhaka (DU) in cooperation with Yunnan University, China. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the construction work of this newly established institute at the fifth floor of Arts Building of the university today 6 June 2016.

Treasurer of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin, Director of the Institute of Modern Languages Prof. Iffat Ara Nasreen Majid, Cultural Counselor of Chinese Embassy in Dhaka Chen Shuang, Chinese Director of Confucius Institute Zhou Mingdong and some other officials from various Chinese companies in Dhaka were present on this occasion.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique paid his glowing tribute to the memory of Confucius, a Chinese Philosopher. He hoped that this institute, which is named after the noted Chinese Philosopher would play an effective role to strengthen friendly relationship between Bangladesh and China.
