A 4-member delegation led by Prof. Dr. Zhang Wangxi of Beijing Language and Culture University, China called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique today June 20, 2016 at the latter’s office of the university.  Other members of the delegation were Prof. Fang Ming, Ms. Yang Fan and Ms. Zhang Jielin of the same university of China.

            Md. Afzal Hossain, Associate Professor of the Institute of Modern Languages of Dhaka University was present on this occasion.   

            During the meeting they discussed matters of mutual interest specially the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programs on Chinese language and culture between Dhaka University and Beijing Language and Culture University. They stressed the need for strengthening language and cultural exchange programs between the two institutions. They agreed to open four-year Honours course on Chinese Language and Culture at Dhaka University very soon with the support, help and cooperation from China. Exchanges of teachers, students and researchers between Dhaka University and Beijing Language and Culture University were also discussed in the meeting.

            DU VC informed the delegate that Confucius Institute was established at the University of Dhaka recently to offer “Confucius China Studies Program”. Friendly relations, language and cultural ties and mutual cooperation have been prevailing between Bangladesh and China for long time, Vice-Chancellor pointed out.

            DU VC Prof. Arefin Siddique thanked the guests for their visit to and keen interest in providing help and cooperation to Dhaka University.
