Dhaka University Botany Department accorded reception to Prof. Dr. Moniruzzaman Khondker who retired recently from the department. The reception program was held today August 3, 2016 at the departmental auditorium. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique addressed the program as chief guest.
Chairman of the Department of Botany Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Bashar presided over the function while Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences Prof. Dr. M Imdadul Hoque addressed it as special guest. Prof. Dr. Abdul Aziz, Prof. Dr. Shahadat Morshed and some other faculties, Officers and students also addressed the program.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique in his speech recalled the outstanding contribution of Prof. Dr. Moniruzzaman Khondker to develop scientific research and education in the country. He was very honest and sincere teacher as well as good human being, the VC added. We need such type of teachers to make Bangladesh a prosperous country, he also said. Terming the extremism as crises of the country DU VC said students have to play pioneering role to resist it. Teachers must work for creating awareness among the students on this burning issue, he mentioned.
