Three meritorious students of different departments under the Faculty of Arts of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded “Farid-Shireen Trust Fund scholarship” for their outstanding academic results. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed scholarships among the students as chief guest at a function held today October 23, 2016 at the VC’s lounge of the university.

DU Treasurer Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin presided over the function while Acting Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof. Dr. Begum Akter Kamal, Chairman of the Department of Islamic Studies Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rashid, Chairman of the Department of Information Science & Library Management Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mezbah-ul Islam, Chairman of the Department of Pali & Buddhist Studies Prof. Biman Chandra Barua, Chairman of the Department of Music Dr. Mohoshina Akter Khanam, donors of the trust fund Md. Farid Miah, Mrs. Shireen Farid, MD & CEO of Somoy Media Ltd. Ahmed Jobaer and DU Acting Registrar Md. Enamuzzaman addressed it.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique urged the students to equip themselves with moral values to make Bangladesh a prosperous country. 

The recipients of Scholarship are – Shibnath Kumar Sarkar (Pali & Buddhist Studies), Liza Akter Lipi (Islamic Studies) and Lima Pal (Information Science & Library Management).
