A two-day international conference on “Business and Economics” began today October 25, 2016 at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university. The theme of conference is “Reinventing Business for the 21st Century”. The Faculty of Business Studies of Dhaka University (DU) organized the program. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the conference as the chief guest.
Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies of DU Prof. Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam presided over the inaugural session while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Nasreen Ahmad and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman addressed it as special guests. Besides, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Swinburne University, Australia Prof. Berdine Van Gramberg, Dean of Business School of the University of Essex, UK Prof. Geoffre T. Wood and Professor of Tufts University, USA Dr.Partha S. Ghosh addressed the opening session as conference speakers. Co-Chair of Conference Prof. Dr. Sadiqul Islam gave vote of thanks.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique urged the leaders of business community, academicians and researchers to work together for upgrading dignity of human being across the world. He also called upon all to equip themselves with humanitarian and mural values for safeguarding the diversity, dignity and equality of global population. “We must close the gap between prosperity and poverty,” he added. “Dhaka University always stands for democracy, equality, liberty, peace, human rights, poverty reduction, secularism, scientific development, cultural enrichment and the like for overall progress of humanity,” he pointed out.
It may be mentioned that a total of 100 teachers and researchers from Bangladesh, USA, UK, Canada, Switzerland, Australia, China, Thailand, Malaysia and Kuwait are participating in the workshop.
