A total of 30 students of various departments under the Faculty of Science of Dhaka University (DU) have been Awarded ‘Dean’s Award’ for their outstanding academic results in BS honours examination of 2014. Besides, 3 teachers of the Faculty of Science have received Dean’s Award for their extra-ordinary contributions in original research and writing books. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed certificates among the awardees as chief guest at a function held today (Sunday), November 06, 2016 at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university. 

            Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdul Aziz presided over the function while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Nasreen Ahmad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr. Md.  Akhtaruzzaman and Treasurer Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin addressed it as special guests. Chairperson of the Department of Chemistry Prof. Dr. Nilufar Nahar delivered welcome speech while Chairman of the Department of Statistics, Biostatistics and Informatics Prof. M A Jalil gave vote of thanks. Associate Prof. of the Institute of Statistical Research and Training Mrs. Jahida Gulshan conducted the program.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique stressed the need for expansion of scientific research and education to develop socio-economic condition in the country. He urged the brilliant students to equip themselves with moral values. Students must play the effective role for making Bangladesh a country free from extremism and terrorism, he added.

            Awardees teachers are Prof. Dr. Ishtiaque M. Syed (Physics), Associate Professor Dr. Md. Hasinur Rahaman Khan (Institute of Statistical Research and Training) and Lecturer Ajmery Jaman (Institute of Statistical Research and Training).
