A two-day long 3rd conference of Bangladesh Crystallographic Association (BCA) began today December1, 2016 at the auditorium of Atomic Energy Centre in the city. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique formally inaugurated the conference as the chief guest.
President of Bangladesh Crystallographic Association Prof. Altaf Hussain presided over the inaugural session while Prof. Gautam R. Desiraju of India and Prof. Michele Zema of UK addressed it as special guests. The inaugural function was also addressed, among others, by Prof. M Qumrul Hassan and Dr. Dilip Kumar Saha.
In this month of victory paying glowing tributes to the memory of our Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and three million martyrs of our Liberation War, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique said, 21st century is the century of science and technology. Dhaka University is always engaged in leading this country in the field of knowledge creation and dissemination. Advances in chemical science and engineering enabled us to rapidly modernise and industrialise our country.
DU VC further said, the Departments of Chemistry and Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering are doing excellent job along with our other teaching departments in producing well trained manpower for steering the country’s scientific advancement. We are going to set up ‘Computerisation Chemistry Department’ soon at Dhaka University.
