Sixty six meritorious students from eight departments under the Faculty of Biological Sciences of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded “Dean’s Award” for their excellent academic results in BS Honors examinations of session 2014-15. Among them, 21 male and 45 female students have received this award.  Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed the awards among the brilliant students at a function held today January 5, 2017 at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.

Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences Prof. Dr. M Imdadul Hoque presided over the function while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman and Treasurer Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin addressed it as special guests. Chairpersons of the various departments declared the names of awardees. Chairperson of the Department of Psychology Prof. Dr. Nasreen Wadud gave vote of thanks.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique stressed the need for cultivation of self purification to become a perfect human being. He also called upon the students to prepare themselves with the combination of merit, patriotism and honesty. They have to equip themselves with humanitarian values to upgrade the human civilization, the VC added. Extremism has been expanded in the society as well as the world due to lack of humanistic education, he mentioned.
