A day-long training workshop on “Quality Assurance and Quality Control of Food Analytical Laboratories” was held today, January 25, 2017 at CARS Auditorium of Dhaka University (DU). Research Center for Food Composition of DU organized the event.
Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique presided over the inaugural function while Chairman of the UGC Prof. Abdul Mannan addressed it as the chief guest. Director of CARS Prof. Dr. Golam Mohammad Bhuiyan and Sub- Project Manager of Food Analysis Laboratory Prof. Dr. Nazma Shaheen also addressed the program.
UGC Chairman Prof. Abdul Mannan stressed the need for ensuring quality of food. He hoped that this workshop would play an effective role to enhance the quality of research in this regard.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique urged the researchers to conduct advanced level research to ensure hygienic food in the country. He stressed the need for creating awareness among the general people about their food habits and safe life style.
Later, UGC Chairman and DU Vice-Chancellor jointly inaugurated the Food Analysis Laboratory at CARS. Besides, they formally opened a new website of this laboratory.
It may be mentioned that 20 researchers of DU participated in the workshop.
