Ten meritorious students of various departments under the Faculty of Biological Sciences and the Faculty of Earth & Environmental Sciences of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded “Nagao Natural Environment Foundation (NEF), Japan scholarship” for their outstanding academic results. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman distributed scholarships among the students as chief guest at a function on February 5, 2018 at the VC’s lounge of the university.
Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences of DU Prof. Dr. M. Imdadul Hoque, Dean of the Faculty of Earth & Environmental Sciences Prof. Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal, DU Representative of NEF Scholarship Committee Prof. Dr. Mohammad Zabed Hossain and Chairmen of various departments were present on this occasion.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman urged the students to equip themselves with moral values. He also called upon the students to maintain strong ties among the family members to make themselves good human being. Students have to play pioneering role for making our environment clean and tidy, the VC added.
The recipients of NEF Scholarship are – Tanbir Ahmad (Soil, Water & Environment), Mousumi, Tajrin Jahan Tarin and Nabamita Sarkar (Botany), Maria Sultana Moly and Sanjida Samad Snigdha (Zoology), Shah Md. Minhajul Abedin (Microbiology), Fahmida Sultana ( Fisheries), Orna Rahman Onny (Geography & Environment) and Kamrunnahar Kanak (Oceanography).
