Seven meritorious students of the Department of Development Studies of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded “Prof. Dr. M Asaduzzaman Foundation Scholarship” for their outstanding academic performances. Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman distributed scholarship among the students as chief guest on April 2, 2018 at Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury auditorium of Social Sciences building of the university. Prof. Dr. M Asaduzzaman Foundation and the Department of Development Studies jointly organized the event to observe the 10th Death Anniversary of former UGC Chairman Professor Dr. M. Asaduzzaman.
Chairman of the Foundation Prof. Emeritus Dr. Sirajul Islam Chowdhury presided over the function while former Governor of Bangladesh Bank Prof. Dr. Atiur Rahman delivered 'Prof. M. Asaduzzaman Memorial Lecture.’ Chairman of National Board of Revenue (NBR) Dr. Mosarraf Hossain Bhuiyan addressed the function as special guest. Vice-Chancellor of ASA University Prof. Dr. Dalem Chandra Barman, Prof. Dr. Sukomal Barua, Prof. Niaz Ahmed Khan, Prof. Dr. Taibur Rahman and Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mainul Islam also addressed it. Chairman of the Department of Development Studies Prof. Dr. M, Abu Eusuf delivered welcome speech. Mrs. Fatema Zaman, wife of late Prof. M. Asaduzzaman gave vote of thanks.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman paid his glowing tribute to the memory of late Prof. M Asaduzzaman. He urged the students to make themselves worthy citizen by following the ideals of late Prof. M Asaduzzaman.
The recipients of scholarship are Md. Mahmud-Ul-Hasan, Fariha Firoz, Abu Musa, Md. Shariful Islam, Afrin Kathy, Md. Kamrul Islam and M Emrul Hasan.
It may be mentioned that Dr. M Asaduzzaman was a Professor of the Department of Public Administration of DU. He died on March 28, 2008.
