Two meritorious students of the Department of Mathematics of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded “Shahid Ronoda Prasad Roy Award of Academic Excellence” for their outstanding academic results in BS Honors examinations of 2017. Awardees are Riya Rani Shil and Sudharonjon Roy. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman distributed this award to the students as chief guest at a function today April 22, 2018 at the VC’s lounge of the university.
Treasurer of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin, Acting Chairman of the Department of Mathematics Prof. Dr. Khandokar Mezbauddin Ahmed, Chairman of the Department of Applied Mathematics Prof. Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam, Provost of the Jagannath Hall Prof. Dr. Asim Sarkar and Acting Registrar Md. Enamuzzaman were present on this occasion.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman urged the students to equip themselves with non communal values. He also called upon the students to work hard for establishment of social harmony in the country. The VC paid glowing tribute to the memory of Shahid Ronoda Prasad Roy.
It may be mentioned that Shahid Ronoda Prasad Roy was a student of DU Mathematics Department. He was brutally killed by the barbaric Pakistan Army on the black night of March 25, 1971 on DU campus.
