Two meritorious female students of the Department of Mathematics of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded “Shahid Ronoda Prasad Roy Award of Academic Excellence” for their outstanding academic results in BS (Honors) examinations of 2017. Awardees are Sushoma Paul and Atoshi Das. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman presented this award to the students as chief guest at a function April 30, 2019 at the VC’s lounge of the university.
Treasurer of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin presided over the function while Chairman of the Department of Mathematics Prof. Dr. Amal Krishna Halder, Chairman of the Department of Applied Mathematics Prof. Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam and Acting Registrar Md. Enamuzzaman were present.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman paid glowing tribute to the memories of Shahid Ronoda Prasad Roy. He urged the students to equip themselves with non-communal values. He also called upon the students to uphold social harmony in the country.
It may be mentioned that Shahid Ronoda Prasad Roy was a student of DU Mathematics Department. He was brutally killed by the barbaric Pakistan Army on the black night of March 25, 1971.
