A twelve-day long international workshop titled “Research School on Dynamical Systems and its Applications to Biology” has begun today June 10, 2019 at AF Mujibur Rahman Ganit Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU). Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the event. The Department of Mathematics of DU, International Center for Pure and Applied Mathematics (CIMPA) and AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation jointly organized this event with a theme of “Development of Research in Mathematics in Developing Countries”.
Chairman of the Department of Mathematics of DU Prof. Dr. Amal Krishna Halder presided over the inaugural function while Deputy Minister of Education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury, MP addressed it as the chief guest. Ambassador of France in Bangladesh Mrs. Marie Annick Bourdin, CIMPA Representatives Prof. Dr. Renaud Leplaideur, Prof. Dr. Lidia Fernandez Rodriguez and Trustee of AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation Mr. M Nurul Alam addressed the program as special guests. Local Coordinator of CIMPA Research School Prof. Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam gave vote of thanks. Prof. Dr. Chandra Nath Paddar conducted the program.
Deputy Minister of Education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury, MP urged the professionals, academicians and researchers to play an effective role to present mathematics in easy ways so that the students can understand it properly. He stressed the need for making mathematics more attractive and popular to the students. He sought cooperation from CIMPA Representatives to develop education sector in Bangladesh.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman said, mathematics is known as the mother of science. Mathematics education is very important to develop scientific research, he added. He hoped that this event would create a common platform for researchers and mathematicians to undertake joint collaborative research programs in this regard.
French Ambassador to Bangladesh Mrs. Marie Annick Bourdin stressed the need for undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programs among the University of Dhaka and other renowned universities around the world to resolve the burning problems of societies. She said, France Government will continue their support and cooperation to promote mathematics education in Bangladesh.
It may be mentioned that academicians and researchers from Bangladesh, France, Germany, Brazil, Austria, Cambodia, Ghana, Egypt, China, Nepal, Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan and India are participating in the event.
