A day-long training program on “Petroleum Geo-science Skills Development” was held today, October 10, 2019 at Prof. MA Latif Auditorium of the Department of Geology of Dhaka University (DU). Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated it as the chief guest. The Department of Geology of DU, Green Power Limited and Dimension Strata Company Limited of Brunei jointly organized this program.
Chairman of the Department of Geology of DU Prof. Dr. M Aziz Hasan presided over the inaugural session while High Commissioner of Brunei to Bangladesh Haji Haris bin Haji Othman and Dean of the Faculty of Earth & Environmental Sciences of DU Prof. Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal addressed it as special guests. Managing Director of Dimension Strata Company Limited of Brunei Mohammad Reduan Haji Mohd. Yusof and Technical Director of the same company Dr. AKM Ehsanul Haque presented key-note speech. Managing Director of Green Power Limited Shaikh Ehsanul Habib gave vote of thanks.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman stressed the need for enhancement of professional skills to develop energy sector in the country. The experts of petroleum sector will be highly benefited by this training program, he hoped.
High Commissioner of Brunei to Bangladesh Haji Haris bin Haji Othman said the government of Brunei has keen interest to work closely with Bangladesh to develop energy sector. A MoU between Dhaka University, Green Power Limited and Dimension Strata Company Limited of Brunei has already been signed in this regard, he pointed out.
It may be mentioned that the professionals from different petroleum companies and organizations of the country participated in the training program.
