A day-long symposium on “Neuroscience Research: Bangladesh Perspective” was held today, October 19, 2019 at Prof. Kamaluddin Ahmad Lecture Gallery of Dhaka University (DU. ) Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the symposium as chief guest. Neuroscience Research Center of DU in collaboration with the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology organized the event.
Director of Neuroscience Research Center of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Khalilur Rahman presided over the inaugural function while Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Khan Abul Kalam Azad and Chairperson of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Prof. Dr. Zeba Islam Seraj addressed it as special guests. Clinical Scientist and Neurologist of ICDDRB Dr. Badrul Islam addressed the symposium as plenary speaker. Secretary of Symposium Organizing Committee Prof. Dr. Shamima Nasrin Shahed conducted the program.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman stressed the need for conducting combined research of neurologists, scientists, biochemists and concerned professionals to resist neuronal diseases of the country. A large number of people of the country are suffering from neurological diseases, he said. We must improve the quality of treatment of these brain related diseases, he added. He emphasized on development of mental function of human being to make peaceful and stable society.
It may be mentioned that academicians, researchers and neurologists participated in the symposium.
