DULMS is the first Learning Management System  developed by the programmers of the ICT Cell at the University of Dhaka. Another software system has also been developed to automate the Examination Process, including result processing by the same development team. Both projects were led by Dr. Muhammad Asif Hossain Khan, a professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and also the Director of the ICT Cell. After doing prototyping, SIT, functional and non-functional tests, and UAT for the last year and a half, on 13 March 2024, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Dr. A. S. M. Maksud Kamal, inaugurated the "Go-Live" of this two homegrown software.  

Prof. Dr. Sitesh Chandra Bachar, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Dr. Md. Zillur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences, all the faculty members of all five Departments of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and the software developer team were present at the auspicious moment. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Asif Hossain Khan presented the key features of both software to the audience.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A. S. M. Maksud Kamal said, “Learning Management System and Examination Automation System activities have been started from the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences to bring every university activity under automation. This program will gradually be introduced in all faculties and institutes. Through this, various activities, including teaching and evaluation, will be more modern, and examination results can be published at the right time”. The Vice-Chancellor expressed optimism that under these automation systems, the university's quality of education and research will improve, dynamism will come in the overall management and transparency, and accountability will be ensured in all areas.

Teachers can use the LMS software to view and manage the courses assigned to them. With this software, they have complete control over the courses they teach. By logging into their respective accounts, they can perform all teaching and examination related activities from their dashboards. Students can access their course-specific information from their dashboard, including class schedules, materials, attendance, evaluations, and other details. The exam automation covers end-to-end exam activities. As these are domestically developed systems, they adhere to all university rules and regulations. Dhaka University ICT Cell has developed and is currently maintaining both software systems.
