Two meritorious female students of the Department of Mathematics of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded “Shahid Ronoda Prasad Roy Award of Academic Excellence” for their outstanding academic results in BS Honors examinations of 2016. Awardees are Shikha Saha and Jyoti Das. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique presented this award to the students as chief guest at a function today, January 29, 2017 at the VC’s lounge of the university.
Chairman of the Department of Mathematics of DU Prof. Dr. Amulya Chandra Mandal, Chairman of the Department of Applied Mathematics Prof. Dr. Md. Abdus Samad, UGC Prof. Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Provost of the Jagannath Hall Prof. Dr. Asim Sarkar and Acting Registrar Md. Enamuzzaman were present on this occasion.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique urged the students to equip themselves with non communal values. He also called upon the students to work hard for establishment of social harmony in the country.
It may be mentioned that Shahid Ronoda Prasad Roy was a student of DU Mathematics Department. He was brutally killed by the barbaric Pakistan Army on the black night of March 25, 1971.
